Sony has joined many other smartphone manufacturers in developing their own AI tech to help enhance their devices photo taking capabilities, after they confirmed this in a recent blog post on its official website. To be exact, Kensuke Mashita was asked during a Q&A what the company was planning next, to which he replied; “I can’t say too much, but selfie enabled AI may be on its way. We’re developing the next generation camera experience – its exciting stuff.”
AI is the latest trend in the mobile world, specifically AI infused cameras. Manufacturers like Huawei are utilising AI for things like detecting the background and subject in an image to enhance them further in detail and colour. Sony have confirmed the AI tech will definitely be developed for the front-camera, so we can only expect that there will be some form of AI tech featured on the rear camera too, but this would be for a different team to confirm. We think the AI use on the front camera will help improve the bokeh effect and other features like this.
There is no confirmation on whether this new AI tech will be ready for release on their next generation of flagship devices. However, with Sony admitting that they haven’t updated their phones quick enough, it’s possible we could see the company announce the addition at IFA in September. We can only speculate for now however.
